David Oscarson

In less than a decade, penmaker and entrepreneur David Oscarson has created an eponymous brand of writing instruments that is synonymous with quality, craftsmanship and style. By using only the finest materials and production techniques, Oscarson has taken the writing pen from a merely functional instrument of everyday use to the latest must-have luxury item.
Boasting exceptional detail, and brilliant colors, each limited edition pen is extremely labor-intensive to produce. The pens are hand-crafted from solid Sterling Silver, which gives them a distinctive weight and luster. Each David Oscarson pen passes through multiple stages of precision engraving, creating a distinctive ornamental pattern known as Guilloche. "We could cast or stamp pattern into metal," says Oscarson, "but we wouldn’t achieve the refraction of light that we do with Guilloche."

David Oscarson Valhalla

The Valhalla Collection is the ninth in the David Oscarson series of Limited Edition writing instruments. Produced in three color variations, each will be limited to production of 88 pieces (including fountain pens and roller balls). From the Bronze Age to medieval times, Viking mythology was the religion of Scandinavia. Today, legends of the Vikings are present in all cultures as a result of their ability to travel and plunder, leaving their marks across the face of Europe and the known world. Known for their longships and crude weaponry, the Vikings also developed a crude runic alphabet, seen chiseled into huge granite rocks, called rune stones; they can be seen across most of modern-day Europe.Valhalla (Valholl) literally translated means "Hall of the Slain" and is in essence a Viking heaven, or Otherworld into which Viking warriors pass upon leaving this life. It is a great structure much like a Roman Coliseum with 640 doorways, through each of which 960 champions can march shoulder to shoulder. Its rafters are spear shafts and its tiles are shields of gold. Here, fallen champions spend all day gaming and fighting one another in battle. At the end of the day, the dead and wounded are all healed, so they can spend the night feasting on the flesh of a boar whose flesh never diminishes and drinking from the udders of a magic goat.In Valhalla, three Viking gods prevail: the Nordic Trinity, Odin, Thor and Frey.

David Oscarson Jacques de Molay

On Friday the 13th of October, 1307, Grand Master Jacques de Molay of the Knights Templar, along with all locatable Templar Knights in France on that day, were arrested by Philip IV "the Fair" King of France. King Philip owed more money to the Templars than he could ever repay in his lifetime and he needed more. What better way to eradicate his debt than to discredit his creditors? He manufactured evidence that the Templars were heretics, sent it on to Pope Clement V, and handed the Templars over to the French branch of the Church of Rome's Inquisition. Meanwhile, Philip the Fair raided the Templar treasury office in Paris only to find the cupboards were bare.De Molay was interrogated and tortured by the Inquisition for six and a half years. At the end he was offered a chance to make his confessions in public. Instead, he said, in part, the following:"I think it only right that at so solemn a moment when my life has so little time to run I should reveal the deception which has been practiced and speak up for the truth. Other knights who have retracted their confessions have been led to the stake, yet the thought of dying is not so awful that I shall confess to foul crimes which have never been committed. Life is offered to me, but at the price of infamy. At such a price, life is not worth having."

David Oscarson Celestial

The Celestial is the eighth in the David Oscarson series of Limited Edition writing instruments. Produced in five color variations, each will be limited to an aggregate production of 88 pieces (including fountain pens and roller balls). The Celestial Collection continues in the spirit of artistic mastery and the tradition of Old World craftsmanship by combining the centuries-old technique of Guilloche with the art and expertise of Hard Enamel. Each Collection piece is engraved with multiple levels of Guilloche, then adorned with multiple colors of Hard Enamel. The five breathtaking color pairs featured on the caps stand in bold contrast to the translucent midnight blue hard enamel on the barrels. The sun and sunburst designs featured on the Celestial cap require multiple levels of engraving; the rays of the sun remain in high relief while the sunburst pattern in the background features occasional omissions in engraving, reflecting heat and solar flares. Most remarkable perhaps is the three-dimensional face of the sun engraved on the tapered and rounded surface of the cap.
