MY HERO
No no, I’m not talking about that HEROES TV series on Monday! It’s my old HERO brand fountain pen. Sad to say many students nowadays don’t use fountain pen or may not even know/seen one too!
I started using HERO fountain pen since Secondary school, think around Sec.1 or 2. Sometimes I got my fountain pen leaking, so my shirt pocket may be stained. The worst case was the ink bottle cap was not tighten properly thus my whole school bag was filled with the blue ink!
The HERO 336 Fountain Pen;
This is probably the most common fountain pen found here. It was released in 1968. The fountain pen probably costs about S$1.20 (I think)? This HERO pen resembles that of PARKER 51 (American brand).
The iridium nib tip was very tough and we like to use it as a dart. I can use it as a flying dart on the class table or chair. It’s fun playing with it, anyway, what other things can we played with at that time…
For those that have used the Hero fountain pen before, their refill system is probably most memorable......

A New World's Most Expensive Pen

It's probably not the best time to be selling a diamond-covered pen. Luckily only one is for sale per year. The Aurora Diamante contains over 30 carats of De Beers diamonds on a solid platinum barrel. It has a two-tone, rhodium-treated, 18KT solid gold nib and is personalized with a coat of arms, signature or portrait. Aurora Pens says it is the only over 30 carat pen in the world. It is believed to be worth around one million euros which would make it more expensive than the Van Cleef & Arpels Mystery pen.

GUN PEN

In today’s modern world, the number of people who write with a pen and paper are gradually coming down. Blame it on the advanced technology, which provides copious facilities to go for other easier options such as the computers and your mobile phones o a large extent. In this scenario, most people are somehow made to drop the habit of writing with a pen and paper (except for the school and university students). Nevertheless, in the midst of this drastic change, ACME has come up with their latest pen, which is named “Ray Gun” and is designed by Ben Hall.
It’s a re-traceable roller ball pen that features a “special ‘gun sight’ shaped clip.” It also has a gun barrel design that serves as the grip. If you thought this was cool, you would probably say its price is rather uncool. It costs a whopping $130.
This gives me the conspicuous reason as to why I should avoid writing with a pen and paper. Besides, it’s a tedious job to write with a pen and paper. Therefore, I would rather stick to the electronic gadgets to do my writing works.

Most Expensive Pens in the World

What better way is there to show your dedication to the (hand)written word than to own the world’s most expensive pen? Okay, there might be a few better ways to do so. In fact, the most expensive pen’s true purpose is likely to show off just how much money you make as the CEO of some recently bailed-out corporation.
Hey, at least it’s really good at showing off.
Diamante contains over 30 carats of diamonds and its creators, Aurora, aren’t shy about telling you it’s the only pen in the world to have so many. That’s why they make one every year.
The pen is topped with a diamond cabochon—a polished, not faceted, gem—and is further decorated with almost two thousand DeBeers-certified “4 C” gems on a solid platinum barrel. Even the nib is precious, being fashioned from 18kt gold.
The asking price for the most expensive pen in the world is not available to the public, but is suspected to be around US $1.28 million. The purchaser may have the Diamante personalized with their coat of arms, signature or portrait.
Montblanc, a fountain pen and luxury goods manufacturer, and Van Cleef & Arpels, a jewelry house, are the creators of the former most expensive pen, a writing instrument known as the Mystery Masterpiece. The unique work took over a year and a half to create by skilled artisans and if you hurry you can have your choice of three variations, set with 20 carats of sapphires, emeralds, or rubies, and accented by almost 840 diamonds. The three versions of the expensive pens were limited to three releases each and each of the nine pens sold for $730,000.
